Default 13 Forester Heater controller cable

Hi All,
I just bought a 2013 Forester 2.5X Premium Manual and the heater is blowing cold air. I have the manual air conditioning. I've determined the problem to be that the cable connected to the temperature controller dial has disconnected (behind the dash). See in the photo , it is the cable above the black controller in the right half. However, I can't seem to understand how to reconnect it. The cable for the controller on the left is connected correctly. The controller cable on the right is not a simple hook. The controller on the right has the same shape and entry hole as the one on the left.
I found a YouTube video where someone was troubleshooting the left controller. In that case though, the cable got disconnected at the other end. Somehow the cable goes through the eye of the controller. Perhaps it clips underneath at 90 degrees from how it is now. I tried to push the cable through the eye but it didn't naturally go under the arm. I'm afraid I might have to take the right controller apart to reconnect it. Ideas?
Thanks,
Chris
